Reykjavik (capital city; option to soak in the wonderfully warm waters of the Blue Lagoon); Strokkur Geyser; Gullfoss (two-tier waterfalls); Pingvellir National Park (rift zone where the American plate is pulling apart from the Eurasian plate);  Skogafoss (fantastic waterfall); Skaftafell National Park (see volcanoes, glaciers, and waterfalls on a great day hike); Jokulsarlon (boat ride through a lagoon filled with icebergs); Jokulsargljufur National Park (impressive canyon with fine hikes amid cliffs and volcanic landforms); Dettifoss (Europe’s largest waterfall in volume); Lake Myvatn area (Krafla volcano with beautiful crater lake; pseudocraters; hot springs for a swim; cinder cone, bubbling mud pits, lava towers and lava tube); Husavik (option to go whale-watching); Akureyri (Iceland’s 2nd largest city with 17,000 people; relaxed, pretty, with great botanical gardens); trip makes an entire circuit of Iceland; midnight sun!

Safari in Serengeti National Park (3 days), Africa's most famous game reserve; Olduvai Gorge (archeological site of the earliest humans); Safari to Ngorongoro Crater, one of the largest concentrations of big-game animals in the world; Cultural visit to Datoga tribe; Hunting with the Hadzabe bushmen, one of the world's last hunting/gathering groups; Cultural visit to the Maasai tribe, with a bustling, weekly cattle market; Safari in Lake Manyara National Park in a rift valley; Safari in Tarangire National Park, with great concentrations of migratory animals in August; Nairobi, Kenya (Langata Giraffe Centre to see these animals up close)
