Saturday June 16, 2018 – Depart USA

Sunday June 17– Arrive Dublin

Take a city tour of Dublin on a Hop-On Hop-Off Bus:  Visit Kilmainham Jail, a prison during the British period with an excellent guided tour.  Evening free to enjoy Dublin’s music and nightlife.

Monday June 18 – Dublin

Full day to enjoy Dublin, visiting Trinity College with the Book of Kells, a beautifully illuminated manuscript from the Dark Ages.  Free afternoon to enjoy more of Dublin.  

Powerscourt & Glendalough

Tuesday June 19 – Dublin to Cashel

Depart Dublin.  Stroll  the beautiful gardens of Powerscourt Estate.  Visit the ruins of Glendalough, a 6th-century monastic settlement amidst beautiful lakes and mountains.   Continue to the village of Cashel and enjoy an evening performance of Irish music and dancing at the Bru Boru Cultural Centre.  One night in Cashel.

Killarney

Wednesday June 20 – Cashel to Killarney 

Visit the Rock of Cashel, one of Ireland’s most impressive ancient castles.  Continue to Killarney National Park with its lakes, waterfalls, and stately Muckross House.  Two nights in Killarney.

Thursday June 21  – Killarney

Tour the scenic Ring of Kerry, a beautiful drive along coastline and through mountains and villages.  Walk part of the Gap of Dunloe, through a glacial valley past lakes.  

Cliffs of Moher

Friday June 22 —Killarney to Doolin

Visit Cliffs of Moher, magnificent  coastal cliffs 700 feet above the crashing surf.  Two nights in the village of Doolin, with great traditional music. 

Aran Islands

Saturday June 23 – Aran Islands

Take a ferry ride to Inishmor, largest of the Aran Islands.  Rent a bicycle, take a van, or hire a horse and carriage to see the island, spectacular cliffs, Dun Aengus fort, and ancient churches.

Connemara & Croagh Patrick

Sunday June 24— Doolin to Westport

Travel through the Connemara region with its wild nature.  Stop to see beautiful Kylemore Abbey on a rugged lakeshore.  Optional afternoon hike up Croagh Patrick (“St. Patrick’s Mountain”), weather permitting.  Outstanding views from the mountain if the weather is good.  One night in Westport. 

Northern Ireland

Monday June 25 – Westport to Northern Ireland

Crossing into Northern Ireland we stop in Derry to walk the city walls and see the colorful Protestant and Catholic murals.  Continue to the beach resort town of Portrush for two nights. 

Giant's Causeway

Tuesday June 26 – Northern Ireland

Explore Northern Ireland’s most famous natural sight, Giant’s Causeway, with bizarre basalt columns along a dramatic coastline.  Visit the ruins of Dunluce Castle on a coastal clifftop.  Walk across Carrick-a-Rede suspension bridge, 80’ above the sea, extending to a rocky island.  Tour Bushmills Distillery to learn about whiskey production. 

Northern Ireland

Wednesday June 27 –  Northern Ireland to Dublin

Return to Dublin via Belfast, with a stop at the Dark Hedges, a magnificent road through a tree tunnel and filming location for “Game of Thrones”.  One last afternoon and evening in Dublin for shopping and dinner.

Thursday June 28 – Depart Ireland

Depart from Dublin and arrive in the USA the same day, or extend your trip with more travels on your own.
